The High Sheriff of Staffordshire, Jamie Friend, awards grant funding to local charities!

On Tuesday 22nd March, The current serving High Sheriff of Staffordshire, Jamie Friend, held a small event in Stafford town to award funding to a number of local organisations in recognition of their work across our Staffordshire communities.

The event was attended by representatives of the successful organisations as well as local dignitaries. Funds were raised during Jamie’s shrieval year via a tour of the Trent Valley. Jamie’s keen interest in nature conservation lead him to get involved with promoting the enhancement and improvement of waterways as part of the Transforming the Trent Valley initiative. As part of this tour, Jamie walked, cycled and visited various sites along the Trent to see the works being done and encourage local people to donate to The Community Foundation. These activities raised over £4,250 which was then match funded by The Community Foundation!

After match funding there was over £8,500 to be awarded to local organisations that are working to support communities across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent! The High Sheriff awarded grant funding to ten fantastic community groups in recognition of their incredible work.

The successful organisations were:

– Symmetrical
– Walk Ministries
– Endon Well Dressing Festival Charity
– Tri-Services & Veterans Support Centre
– Kibblestone District Scout Council

– Oak Tree Farm Rural Project
– Burton Conservation Volunteers
– SARAC
– Fun Club Hub
– Changes Tamworth

The event was a great success and enjoyed by all who were able to attend. The Community Foundation would like to thank the High Sheriff for his support and dedication to supporting local communities throughout his shrieval year.
