The programme will support Unpaid Caregivers and older people across the UK, who may be in need of some financial support.
We will offer support in the form of vouchers.
Eligibility
Who We Are Able to Support
We must ensure the grants go to people who really need them. Therefore, you must hit the following financial thresholds:
- Applicants must not be over 25% of the Minimum Income Standard (MIS). This is £23,776 for a single person and £36,605 for a household of 2 people.
- Applicants must have household savings less than £3,000 for a single adult household or £6,000 for a couple.
Unpaid Caregiver
To be eligible for an Unpaid Caregiver Grant to support you with the cost of care equipment or cost of living, you must be an unpaid caregiver in the UK caring for:
- Someone over 70
and - Delivering over 20 hours of care a week
Older people
To be eligible for an Older Person Grant to support you with the cost of living, you must:
- Be 70 years old or older
and - Live in the UK
Geographical Reach
This programme will support individuals UK wide
Ineligible Costs
We do not provide financial assistance for:
• Debts – consumer credit/debt repayments, payday loans, overdraft fees, rent arrears
• Legal fees and costs of legal representation
• Payment of fines
• House purchase
• Private medical treatment
• Private education
• Higher education course fees
Eligible Costs
Here are some examples of what we will be able to support with (This list is not exhaustive, other items can be considered on a case by case basis)
– Equipment to assist with disability such as wheel chairs, rollators, specialist furniture
– Incontinence products
– Gas and electricity costs
– Food/general shopping costs
– Memberships/costs to join support organisations/groups to assist with the needs of the older person being cared for
Grants Available
This programme will consider applications for a grant up to £350
Although you may apply for funding, you are not guaranteed a grant
If you are awarded funding you will then be unable to apply again for another 24 months to ensure we help as many people as possible.
If you are successful, you will be issued with an e-voucher to purchase items, as detailed in your application. It may also be possible to make direct payments to an organisation supporting you, this can be considered on a case by case basis.
Monitoring Requirements
If you are successful, you will be issued with an e-voucher to purchase items, as detailed in your application. Once you have spent the voucher, you will need to send us a receipt of the purchases made.
We would also like to hear about the impact this support has had, and so would appreciate a short quote from you, so as we can build up our impact report.
Application Process
Supporting Documents we require
If you are applying as an Unpaid Caregiver, you will need to send:
- Evidence of being an active unpaid caregiver. This could be a letter of support from a GP or Healthcare provider, a document / ID stating your carer’s status, any letter detailing caring responsibilities or a claim for Carer’s Allowance or benefits
- A letter of support from a GP, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or similar
- If you are applying for equipment, please include a quote or example of what you require
- Form of ID/proof of address, such as driving licence, passport or utility bill

What to expect on the application form
You may find the following information useful, so as you are prepared when completing the application form.
1) The application form will request details about you and your circumstances. This will include a breakdown of who is in your household, and your financial income and expenditure.
2) We will want to know what you need help with:
- What would you like support with?
- Why do you need support?
- What will change if you receive support?
3) Finally, you will be asked how you will spend the award
