Grant Beneficiary Data 2025/2026

Our Yearbooks give details of the projects that we’ve funded and the impact that our grant giving has had. This page is produced in addition to that yearbook and is updated annually.  It reports on the ethnicity of the people supported by our funded projects, the age groups of the people supported, and the primary issue that has been addressed.  The data only applies to people supported by the organisations that we fund, and does not include data related to individual awards.

The question of ethnicity is a multiple choice question completed by an applicant at the time of application, and then again when the project is complete.  The question at application stage is ‘Of which ethnicity will most of your project participants be?’.  The question at the monitoring stage is ‘Thinking about the people that engaged with the funded activity, of which ethnicity were the majority of participants?’  Grantees are free to choose as many options as they like.  The bulk of applicants, and of grantees, specify ‘All Ethnicities’ as the main beneficiary.

The question of issue is a multiple choice question completed by an applicant at the time of application, and then again when the project is complete.  The question at application stage is ‘What is the primary issue that your funded activity will try to address?’.  The question at the monitoring stage is ‘What was the primary issue that your project addressed?’

How we are refining our monitoring

Although we like to be open and give our grantees the flexibility to choose the relevant response, by choosing ‘All Ethnicities’ or ‘All Ages’ it produces imprecise data that is difficult to monitor and report on.  Our feedback from grantees indicates that sometimes they feel they have to choose the ‘All’ option to show that they are inclusive.  From 2026 we will remove the ‘All Ethnicities’ and ‘All Ages’ option, so that applicants and grantees will need to choose the individual groups that benefit from their activities.
