We Are Tamworth Community Grants

This grant is provided from the Community Recovery Fund, which has been allocated to Tamworth Borough Council from MHCLG to support the response to the public disorder seen over the Summer of 2024. The funding has been provided to support immediate clear up, improve security measures in key locations and facilitate community level responses.

The aim of this programme is to build social trust and promote community cohesion in Tamworth and an application to this fund must demonstrate how the project will do this. 

Our Vision

Our vision is for a Tamworth that is fairer, more connected and inclusive, where all residents lead safe, healthy and happy lives.

We are looking for projects that align to the six We are Tamworth ‘Building Better Communities’ Strategy priorities:

  1. Pride in Tamworth

Everyone feels proud to belong and live in Tamworth, with an inclusive local identity

  1. Partnerships for building better communities

Our partnerships across sectors are strong and inclusive, so that varied organisations and community groups work together with each other and communities to strengthen connections and community.

Residents feel that services and regeneration are benefitting them in the areas where they live. All communities have opportunities for ownership and agency over their local spaces and projects and are empowered to include those whose voices are underrepresented

  1. Neighbourliness, connection and belonging

Everyone feels included and connected, with opportunities to share experiences, build understanding and ensure that every voice is heard.

  1. Democratic resilience

Communities are confident in democratic values and resilient to division. Differences of opinion, however strongly held, are handled by working together to uphold freedom of speech, fair and civil debate, to build up trusted, accountable and representative institutions and to encourage well-informed participation in public life.

Everyone has access to opportunities, prosperity and wellbeing, which are shared equally across all communities.

Eligibility

Who We Are Able to Support 

We will support the following types of organisation;

  • Constituted Voluntary groups
  • Constituted Community groups.
  • Registered Charities
  • Social Enterprises

Limited companies are not eligible to apply to this programme.

This programme will support local, grassroots voluntary and community organisations, it will not support statutory agencies.

Groups can be grassroots, but partnership working will be encouraged. If a group does not have a bank account, they will be encouraged to partner with another organisation to hold any grant awarded.

Small groups are encouraged to speak to Support Staffordshire for support

Projects We Can Support 

Projects which build connections across communities. We are looking for projects that can bring people together from different backgrounds, including those of different faiths around a shared goal/objective.

Initiatives which help counter or strengthen resilience to mis/disinformation and prevent false and harmful narratives spreading. For example, social media focused ‘critical thinking’ sessions in youth and community settings.

Positive diversionary activities such as sport, arts or cultural activities for young people that will also develop relationships with others from different backgrounds.

Eligible Costs

Ineligible Costs

  • Funding towards religious projects or projects that promote religion, (although religious organisations can be funded for non-religious projects
  • Capital expenditure
  • Travel and subsistence costs
  • Guarantee against organisational loss
  • Work and projects which are contrary to the Tamworth Borough Council Diversity and Equality policy
  • Projects operated on a commercial or for-profit basis.
  • The funding of organisations, projects or events which promote or condone extremist ideology, activities, or terrorism.
  • Salaries
  • Fundraising activities / Sponsorship
  • Political campaigning activities specific to any one party, including participation in political demonstrations, support of a political party, or the issuing of material which supports or opposes a particular party or government
  • Statutory bodies or provision, including towards the provision of core statutory services or services that carry out a statutory responsibility
  • Retrospective funding, where the project has already occurred or for goods and services which have already been ordered or purchased prior to funding being approved

Application Process

Grants Available 

Grants are available from £500 up to £3000

Please note all projects are to be fully delivered by March 2027, with end of grant reports due by April 2027.

Monitoring

End of Grant reports will be due by the end of April 2027

Successful applicants will be asked to complete an end of grant monitoring report, keep records of all expenditure and to provide case studies/good news stories. Groups are encouraged to provide photos / videos of events taking place

Documents you need to send us 

The following documents must be provided with your application. If you fail to provide these documents, your application will not be considered. All documents should be submitted at the time of application

  • Governance Document – Constitution, Memorandum and Articles of Association
  • Accounts – either independently examined, audited or a record of income and expenditure.
  • Bank Statement – this will need to be in the name of the organisation, no older than 3 months old and clearly showing the account name, number and sort code. The bank account must have at least two signatories, who are not related.
  • Details of signatories
  • Safeguarding Polices
  • Equality and Diversity Policy / statement
  • Quotes for capital equipment
  • Copy of public liability insurance document

How to use our funding portal

  • You will be asked to register with your name and email address, if this is your first time on our portal, or sign in if you have visited the portal before
  • Once in the portal, click on “available Funding”
  • This will display a table with all of our available grants
  • Find this programme in the list and navigate to the far right hand column, where you will see the word “apply”
  • Click on the word “apply” and this will take you to the application form
